All IP Telephones

This screen displays all the IP telephones, including softphones and IP consoles, hosted by the system and information concerning their status plus their hardware and software version. For troubleshooting information, refer to the MiVoice Business Troubleshooting Guide.

Name

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the telephone user.

Number

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the telephone directory number.

Device ID

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the IP telephone.

Device Type

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the telephone type.

Device Description

System-generated, protected field. Applies to SIP devices only. Displays information from the “User-Agent” header in the SIP REGISTER message received when the device registers with MiVoice Business.

State

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the state of the telephone.

In Service: the telephone has set up a TCP/IP connection and has been programmed.

Out of Service: if the MAC address is displayed this indicates that the telephone has lost its TCP/IP connection but has been programmed.

Out of Service: if the MAC address field is blank this indicates the telephone has been programmed but has not been connected to the LAN.

Unprogrammed: the telephone is connected to the LAN but has not been programmed.

Registration Reason

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the last registration reason message MiVoice Business received from the phone.

The registration reason field can have the following values:

  • Start: the telephone has registered successfully with MiVoice Business directly after powering up or rebooting.

  • Forced: the telephone was redirected to this MiVoice Business system by another MiVoice Business system.

  • Hand Off: the telephone was intentionally handed-off to this MiVoice Business system by another MiVoice Business system (for example, due to login or failback).

  • Fail Over: the telephone has re-homed after losing contact with its MiVoice Business system (for example, due to a MiVoice Business failure, network error, etc.). On resilient phones, this message indicates the phone lost contact with its MiVoice Business system and then reestablished contact with either its primary or secondary MiVoice Business system. On non-resilient phones, the message indicates the phone lost and then reestablished contact with its home system.

  • Network Error: hand off error - MiVoice Business unreachable: the phone can't find the MiVoice Business system to which it was handed off (most probably due to a network error).

  • Network Error: network fail.

  • Network Error: MiVoice Business unreachable.

  • Set Error: set generated failure.

  • Set Error: registration fail.

  • Set Error: ACK expiry: there was a communication error between the phone and MiVoice Business.

  • Set Error: PIN timeout.

  • SSL Retry: set registered on non-SSL port and asked to re-register

  • System Error: MiVoice Business generated failure.

  • System Error: hand off error - no DB entry.

  • System Error: hand off error - set type mismatch.

  • Unknown.

MAC Address
(Media Access Control)

System-generated, protected field. Displays the hardware address that uniquely identifies the IP telephone.

NOTE: MAC addresses are not supported for most SIP devices.

PING
(Packet Internet Groper)

Use the PING utility in this form to determine whether a programmed, in-service IP telephone is accessible.

NOTES

  • If the IP telephone is in service remotely (for example, on a secondary controller), you will get an Out of Service error message when you ping the phone by directory number. If this happens, ping the phone by its IP address.

  • The PING utility is not supported for SIP devices.

Primary ICP

System-generated, protected field. Displays the name or IP address of the telephone's local controller in a single-node environment or its Primary controller (if programmed in the Network Elements form) in a resilient environment.

If neither the name nor IP address is available, "Unknown" displays, indicating a problem with the controller. Check the Warning Maintenance logs for possible causes.

Secondary ICP

System-generated, protected field. Applies to resilient environments only; the field is blank for single-node environments and for non-resilient telephones (i.e., telephones without an entry in the Remote Directory Numbers form.)

If neither the name nor IP address is available, "Unknown" displays, indicating a problem with the controller. Check the Warning Maintenance logs for possible causes.
